Christmas 2018 is Already Here for Me!

I always look forward to changing my SL land to Christmas once we are into November, a little early sometimes, but in these real life days of doom and gloom it’s nice to escape to twinkling lights, frosty fingered art-work on windows and the dazzling Christmas trees and other creations of our wonderful SL designers. I already have an inventory full of Christmas decorations, yet I’m always happy to look for new stuff, amazed at what is on offer, items so lifelike and with much fewer prims because of mesh, so I can put much more detail into my landscape compared to pre-mesh days.  I have a few favourite stores for Xmas shopping and here are some that sell really lovely quality things: Bad Katz, [DDD] Dysfunctionality, KIDD Gardens, the House of Avro, Snuggles, Two Moon Gardens, HPMD, LOVE Homes and Gardens and What Next. There must be many designers I haven’t tracked down yet, but hopefully I’ll discover a few more this year.  I just wish I had even more prims to play with, people who own a whole sim must have a great time creating their dream landscapes!

I started off this year buying a lovely new dance pavilion from Potomac Signature Homes, it comes with a menu so you can change the roof to snow, which is a bonus, so I can easily change it back to an ordinary roof in the Spring.  I can’t terraform my land to snow as I have a quarter of a sim, so I just laid snow textured giant prims over the ground to create my base to put my Christmas scene on.  My friend Hibiscus Hastings lives in the next quarter so we lay our snowy base together and Hib has lots of lovely seasonal things out this year too, including a hot air balloon, a carriage ride and you can take a romantic trip flying over the sim in her horse drawn sleigh.  I have a carousel, a pond to skate on with free ice-skating blades, snug places people can sit and chat and a big cosy house that people are welcome to use to sit by the blazing fire and relax. Hib’s Art Gallery is well worth a visit too. My free-range turkey Lucky might want to be friendly, he likes to bump into people so beware, but don't worry, he’s just being affectionate!  Actually the SL animals at JIAN are incredible, I got my little pet turkey there and the animation with the pets is amazing, I have quite a few JIAN animals in my collection.

I hope people enjoy visiting my Christmas wonderland, I’m not around an awful lot in SL at the moment, but like to think people will enjoy themselves if they do call in.

Remembering Those Who Gave Their Lives For All Of Us - WWI Armistice Centenary

It's WW1 Armistice Centenary, 1918-2018. A day to remember all those who fought for their countries and for freedom in two world wars and indeed also those who have been killed, have been injured or fought in any battles to protect their nations worldwide. There are many tributes for our Armed Forces today and  Second Life has also played a part in remembering those brave soldiers and also our wonderful veterans.

One thing to remember is our pride in our countries. We are individual nations with our own history, cultures and traditions and most of all we are sovereign. We are allied, we are friends and we all want peace for our future generations who will also be sovereign citizens with loyalty to their people and their country.   No totalitarian third party in the name of globalisation or any other title shall destroy nation states, for we stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies, our fallen soldiers from two world wars deserve that we continue to protect our freedoms from tyranny.
