Janis Short held her Rez Day Party tonight to celebrate her 10th year in Second Life and what a fantastic party it was! Based on the Phantom of the Opera, the theme gave the guests a chance to dress up in some gorgeous costumes for the occasion. Janis invited us to an Opera House location designed in SL just for the Phantom of the Opera. It was a magical atmosphere which blended nicely with the tunes that she had selected for the night, a set of moving show songs mixed in with some classic rock. The Phantom of the Opera must be one of the best known musical stage productions of all time. Basing the show on the French novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Richard Stilgoe wrote the book for the musical, with Lloyd Webber composing the music, whilst the lyrics were written by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe. The musical first opened in London's West End in 1986 and then went on to Broadway in 1988. It celebrated its 10,000th performance in Broadway on 11 February 2012, making it the longest running show in Broadway's history.
The party was amazing, everyone had a brilliant time and I hope Janis enjoyed her special night as much as we did. (Janis's actual Rez Day is on the 27 October)
