I don't have a lot of knowledge about the Music Industry I must admit, but one person knows her stuff and that is Janis Short, DJ and owner of the HangOut Club. Janis had an Early 60's Party tonight to celebrate the songwriters of that time. She told us about the Brill Building, an office block located at 1619 Broadway on 49th Street in the New York City in the borough of Manhattan, where American song writers worked in the studios there. She said the writers included Burt Bacharach, Bert Berns, Bobby Darin, Hal David, Neil Diamond, Buddy Feyne, Gerry Goffin, Howard Greenfield, Jack Keller, Carole King and many more. I must admit I didn't really know it was such a well organised industry, I tended to imagine that more songs were credited to the bands who had made them into hits, yet there are many songwriters that the public just never learned about behind those very popular songs over the years. We had a great time listening to Janis's set of the early 60's hits tonight, another brilliant time at the HangOut club!
