Let's Show Mrs Wetherby That She's Really Appreciated By Donating Some Money For Her In Venezuela

One of the best and most generous SL designers, Alejandra Jumanya, known as Mrs Wetherby or Mrs W to her friends, is having first hand experience of the troubles in Venezuela and she's been collecting money in Second Life to help other people out there for a while now.  I've had many beautiful free dresses from Mrs W, as have many people, given by this lovely talented lady and now it's time for us to give her a little bit back.  Anything you can afford, go over to her shop, buy her clothes and donate to her donation board in the shop, just do it.  Just imagine what it's like not to be able to buy food or have electricity! Even a few Lindens will help, let Mrs W know how much we appreciate her and make yourself feel good by giving what you can!  Thank you!  Wetherby's

New York Times reports:
Step by step, Venezuela has been shutting down.
This country has long been accustomed to painful shortages, even of basic foods. But Venezuela keeps drifting further into uncharted territory.
In recent weeks, the government has taken what may be one of the most desperate measures ever by a country to save electricity: A shutdown of many of its offices for all but two half-days each week.
But that is only the start of the country’s woes. Electricity and water are being rationed, and huge areas of the country have spent months with little of either. See full article

Twisting By The Pool

Summer is now (un)officially underway, following a great Memorial Day Pool Party held by  DJ Janis Short at The HangOut. We were all dancing to the beat around the swimming pool, enjoying the sun and the summer songs. Hard to believe that The HangOut is six years old (when did that happen?!), but the energy is certainly undiminished, to judge from the packed house filled with avs in their summer finest. Looks like it is going to be a long, hot summer!

Hillary Clinton HQ in SL and Brexit The Movie

I wandered around again in the virtual world looking at political sites and came across an HQ for Hillary Clinton adding to the previous Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders places I had previously found, so people have a choice to check them out and give their support if they want to. I had a nice chat with Cyndi who runs the Clinton site and she kindly allowed me to take the above photo.   I'm trying to stay pretty neutral as to the Presidential candidates as, of course, it's up to the Americans whom they choose.  If people want more of an idea over in the UK about the EU referendum on the 23rd June, then the following film is very informative.

Take A Break Away From City Life And Visit The SL Yorkshire Dales

Living in a big city like London has its highs and lows, the crowds, the dashing about, as most people always seem in a hurry, being stuck in a traffic jam for an hour for a normally  fifteen minute journey!  Not really getting to know your neighbours well and setting your burglar and car alarms just in case. Of course people put up with the hustle and bustle, most people love it, the posh West End shops, the threatres, the handy public transport getting you where you want to go.  The nightlife and the buzz of being alive to the hum of city life where everything is at your fingertips.  But it's always nice to get away for a few days, to look at a slower way of living. Where people have the time of day to stop and say hello and direct you to some lovely tea rooms or pub in a nearby village.  One of my 'getting away from London' holidays had been to the Yorkshire Dales, a very picturesque part of England with rolling hills edged with low natural stone walls and endless blue skies.  Peace and tranquillity ruled the day, I loved it.

So it was with great delight that I found a listing in the Second Life Destination Guide for a sim modelled on the Yorkshire Dales, and truly beautiful it is! Built by PinkRayne Resident, the Yorkshire Dales sim is a wonderful place to visit. PinkRayne, who had previously created a sim based on the Yorkshire Moors, has now concentrated on a pretty little village called Malhamdale in the Dales.  She states in her description:

"I have created another piece of Yorkshire landscape that’s equally as precious to me – The Yorkshire Dales, UK. One tiny rural village holds a place in my heart because it’s a place we visited many, many times: Malhamdale. As a child, I would spend hours and hours with my family here, running through the grass, picking wildflowers and dipping my toes in the streams of the idyllic Dales. I remember eating picnics, making daisy chains and feeling perfectly content with the world."

So get away from the smoke for a little while, take a trip over to the SL Yorkshire Dales, relax, breathe the clean air and listen to the sweet birdsong as you admire PinkRayne's exquisite SL landscape of the glorious British countryside. Many thanks to PinkRayne for letting me photograph her sim.

Dress Like A Rock Star and Happy Birthday To Ed!

What a dazzling night at the HangOut Club!  The event was 'Dress Like a Rock Star' and the clubbers certainly did!  The  venue was packed with great celebrity look alikes and club owner and dj Janis Short played some atmospheric Rock'n'Roll tunes to fit the bill.  To make the night even more special there was a celebration, it was Ed Follet's birthday and he told me he had celebrated his birthday in real life at the weekend, so he enjoyed his SL party at the HangOut on the actual day!  Happy Birthday Ed!
