Virtually London (lite) is Taking a Break!

Here I am sitting at a spot near where the original London Underground Club used to be, it holds lots of fond memories for me, when all the Virtual London friends partied there and everyone enjoyed themselves so much! Of course, people move on, start new things and places change, and change is one of the consistent things about SL. I am also making a change at the moment, although this isn't permanent, I am taking a break from writing the blogs, including London (lite) for a little while. I am doing some journalism in real life at the present time, and I need a little time off from SL writings. I have no idea if it will be weeks or months until I can start up the Virtually London (lite) and Our Virtual Trilogy blogs again. Maybe I will put in the odd post, who knows. This isn't the end, it is merely a busy time for me and I want to thank all our loyal readers who have stayed with me and all the wonderful people I've written about who make SL so colourful and interesting. I'll still be in SL as much as ever, but I'll be just having fun for now. Don't forget to read all the other fantastic London blogs, which I have linked in the sidebar, to find out what is going on and hopefully London (lite) will be up and running again soon!

New dj Alexis Joins the HangOut Club

The HangOut Club got another fantastic dj a few nights ago, Alexis Aferdita had everyone up and dancing in the cosy bar area of the trendy club. Alexis was a big hit with the crowd and everyone had a great time! Congratulations on your new job Alexis!

Merry Sailor Home From the Seas

There's a new resident in Whitechapel 1888 and he doesn't pay any rent. You might see him if you wander the streets, or you might hear him singing a sea shanty as he drowns his sorrows, drink in hand, now he's a landlubber home from his life on the ocean waves. Spooks introduced me to the sailor, a new addition of Spook's site. The sailor won't speak to you, he's not an avatar, but he's lots of fun, and Spooks plans to have some history about the Seamen's Mission charity in the sim. I also travelled up to Spook's platform where he builds all his wonderful items, which he sells in Whitechapel or on xstreet market. He has just made a greenhouse and it looks really great, he has all the flower pots, tools and plants inside and it's just like a real life one; a must for people with their SL homes who want to add some interest in the garden. Spooks also showed me a steampunk building he has just finished, an exquisite tower with a dome on the top. The light shines through the dome into the top floor and you can see the pattern of the light on the wooden flooring, so clever! So take a trip over to Whitechapel and keep an eye out for the sailor, he may be in need of another pint of ale.

Happy Birthday To Ed!

Virtually London (lite) would like to wish Ed Follet a very Happy Birthday! It was Ed's birthday yesterday and he spent part of his SL day playing a game of Greedy Greedy with Hibiscus and I. Ed was the champion, he won both games, well done Ed I hope you had a brilliant birthday!

Under The Ocean Waves!

What an amazing night down at the West End Club! It was an 'under the water' theme and it wasn't quite what I expected. Arriving outside the club, at first I couldn't see anyone in there, then as I approached the entrance I could see a swimming pool and a sign telling me to jump into the water. I dived straight in and I was suddenly in the most beautiful seascape I've ever seen in SL. Club owner Clive Hissop had worked his spell again to create a fantastic ocean bed and people were dressed in diving gear and merpeople's outfits. Cute, in her pretty mermaid costume, hosted, whilst dj Zen, with his rubber duck inflatable ring, played some great music!

Mother's Day Hunt

Cutewillow Carlberg has organised another brilliant hunt, this time it's a Mother's Day hunt. She has eight wonderful gifts to find in Tropical Bliss (New West End Club) and you will have until Sunday to find them, good luck with the hunt!

Greedy Greedy Tournament at Club Underground

It's a game that seems to be sweeping across SL very quickly, Greedy Greedy is fun to play and the nice thing is you can play as a group with your friends (although Hibiscus, Ed and Drax always cheat when I'm not looking!). Seany1235 Blinker is holding a Greedy Greedy tournament at his Club Underground next week. If you want to take part, it starts at 12pm (SLT) on Sunday, 8th May. You will have to get in touch with Seany to let him know you are going to play, so get your names in quickly, and good luck, there is L$1000 in the winning pot!

Cinco de Mayo Celebrations In Hyde Park

It's a day to celebrate for Mexicans and Latino's today, May 5 is Cinco de Mayo, a patriotic holiday to commemorate the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puabla in 1862. Virtual London has been running an event for a few days now to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, and I went over to join the party in Hyde Park. Dj Appletinny Myoo was getting everyone in the mood with some red hot tunes as host Sammy Draesia kept the whole thing buzzing! Happy Holiday to everyone!

Kate and William Wedding Photo Contest

Janis Short wins our Royal Wedding photo contest with her atmospheric picture. She seized the opportunity to grab the dramatic London skyline, complete with lightning striking, for a backdrop to show off her very royal picture hat! Her other picture entry was also very well shot with Tower Bridge in the background. Well done to Janis who wins L$500.

Greeter Pink's Debut at the HangOut Club

Pink Bachem made her debut at the HangOut Club as a greeter on Saturday night. She did an excellent job of keeping the evening flowing as dj Brains played some great music. Congratulations on your new job Pink! There were some ructions though, a naughty schoolboy came into the club (courtesy of Ed Follet in a school uniform, short trousers and a school cap. He had a catapult and a ciggie hanging from his mouth as well!). Club owner Janis Short wasn't having any of it, she got out her little wooden paddle and chased him around the room to give him a good whack! It was all in good fun, Ed loved every minute of it! A brilliant time was had by all!

The Street Parties

Well the Royal Wedding went really well, London was packed with excited people and the bride looked beautiful, in fact the whole picture of London at its best with its guardsmen marching and flag waving Britains and tourists was a sight to behold. Good luck to Kate and William and good luck to Princess Beatrice's hat, her hat was so unusual (I wanted to say awful, but think I'll stick to unusual), it got its own facebook page. I thought there were a few dodgy outfits among the guests to be honest, they should have asked me and Hibiscus along, we would have shown the others up! The party continued in SL, there was an amazing Muse tribute concert in Virtual Hyde Park and the crowd danced away to a full eight hours of fun. New London had a good old traditional street party with Kat and Laredo dancing on the table top. I spotted Teddy and Hermione Darbyshire at the other end of the table, they were dressed in Union Flag colours, so patriotic! everyone was having a great time!
