Norway's Tree Gift

Since 1947 Norway has given a gift of a Christmas Tree to the people of London. The huge tree is a symbol of gratitude for the support Britain gave Norway in World War II and traditionally people turn out to see the lighting of the tree in Trafalgar Square and to sing carols. And so it was in Virtual London too, yesterday a beautiful tree was given by the Norwegians in SL as a gift to London and a crowd gathered to see the ceremony. To many people, the tree stands for the beginning of Christmas and it's a lovely gesture from the Norwegian people each year.

I'm always touched by this story and think it is great that we get to share in it in SL.
