There’s something about the HangOut that is pure magic. From the moment the rain rezzes and Tower Bridge starts to glisten I start to smile. To date, it has never disappointed me. My dreams of creating a warm friendly reality-based club filled with funky details, great music and some of the nicest, smartest people in SL have all come true. Knowing that at any time of the day or night there are people sitting and chatting, kissing in the Tube, dancing to Absolute Radio, or taking fun pictures in the Photo Booth is a constant pleasure
One of the most successful nights at The HangOut has proven to be Sixties Monday, now a three hour marathon from 1-4, it accommodates members from all over the world. Although the membership is predominantly British, we have guests from The States, Japan, Germany, Holland and The Caribbean. The universal language is music.
We mix the Mods with the Rockers, playing Gene Vincent‘s “Be Bop A Lula“ and The Small Faces “All Are Nothing.“ Consistent favorites are Motown classics and British Invasion staples, but the thing that everyone agrees on are dance classics. We line dance and pretend we’re The Temptations we do the Pony and the Twist. We “Wooly Bully”, “Hanky Panky”, “Louie Louie” and the “Hippy Hippy Shake”. And while the chat and patter never stops we dance, dance, dance.
The future of The HangOut is looking bright. Our expanded staff includes DJ Seany and club manager Robyn Pastorelli. Robyn is a constant source of creative inspiration, whether she’s hunting down obscure tunes to play, designing our wonderful t-shirts, or finding funky additions to our décor like our great vintage Coca Cola machine. Sean’s lunchtime session every Wednesday 12-2, is a huge success. The HangOut IS a great place to HangOut. The membership (now over 100) continues to grow.
