I’d heard people say how helpful Nala Tenk is as well as being very popular with people in the London sim. Nala is one of the Directors and she looks after SL Mayfair. I managed to grab her for a chat the other day and it was nice finally getting to know her.
Nala told me that she joined Second Life (SL) on the 26 February 2007, she had read about it in newspapers and magazines and thought she would like to see what it was about for herself. Nala told me that when she first joined SL she was amazed, she had found everything so beautiful.
After a month in SL Nala had met her first girlfriend and they were very happy together and rented a house. By coincidence she had rented the house next door to SL London employee, Estate Manager Fennel Mimistrobell (known as Nell). She told me that shortly after that her girlfriend had left SL and Nell had become a wonderful friend, helping her in any way she could. Nell eventually became her big sister, she said her and Nell made a good team together.
Nala told me that Nell’s friend Spike Hartunian had seen how well she managed the 'True Brits Group' when Nell was away, and that he had offered her a chance of working in SL London, so Nala thought she would give it a try. She says she likes mixing with all kinds of people as she travels around SL.

I ask Nala how she spent her SL free time. she laughingly said ‘free time?’ ‘what’s that?’ and it’s true Nala doesn’t get a great deal of free time to herself, but when she does she said she likes to catch up with her friends, she enjoys dancing and going to the beach. She went on to say that we are all good dancers in SL, and that’s very true, even I can’t mess that up!!
I wanted to know how Nala saw her role in SL London as time went on. She told me that she didn’t realise she had commercial or organisational qualities until she started working in the London sim and SL has taught her so much. I said that SL had given me more confidence with people in real life and she agreed that she felt the same. Nala also thinks SL teaches you tolerance in the first place.
Nala considers herself to be a very lucky person because she has found really lovely people here in SL that love her so much in return. She lists her many friends, Meike, Nell, Cake, Smasch, Robyn, Mario and dear friend Tia. I asked Nala if she had a girlfriend at the present time in SL, she said she had and her name is Dana. Nala said even thinking about Dana makes her smile, they have had a constant loving relationship for almost a year now, which in SL is a long time. Nala is warm, friendly and works hard to make everyone happy in the Mayfair sim, and I would like to thank her for telling me about her part in SL.
